چکیده
The rapidly increasing use of structural adhesives, especially in the joining automotive body structures has motivated various investigations effects adhesive curing process on joints. automotive-grade adhesives require heat curing, which, meantime, performs thermal loading substrates and causes undesirable joint. For example, results complex residual stresses bond which are detrimental to performance thereby automobile structure, particularly crashworthiness. To thoroughly evaluate such effects, this paper consists two parts. first part presents an innovative experimental method characterize a multi-material single lap shear joint using digital image correlation. second study compares stress-induced joints against stress-free under tension at different strain rates. proposed corresponding from expected help comprehensively understand its potential side structure.

Moisture absorption-desorption effects in adhesive joints
This paper presents a study of moisture absorption-desorption effects in single lap adhesive joints. Experiments were carried out to characterise the moisture uptake of the single part epoxide adhesive, FM73. Tensile testing of single lap joints manufactured from aluminium alloy 2024 T3 and O and FM73 adhesive was carried out after the joints were exposed to different conditioning environments....

An experimental study has been carried out to investigate the behaviour of co-bonded carbon fibre reinforced plastics joints with a novel design incorporating a through the thickness local reinforcement. Different specimens were manufactured to investigate static and fatigue behaviour, as well as delamination size after impact and damage tolerance characteristics. The mechanical performances of...
متن کاملThermal Stress in Bonded Joints
This paper considers the stress distributions in bonded materials induced by differential expansion or contraction of these materials. The analytical approach is similar to the lap joint theories attributed to Volkersen and expanded by Goland and Reissner. Several simple and typical analytical models are presented to bring out the relative importance of dlrerent geometrical and material paramet...
متن کاملContinuum damage modelling of environmental degradation in joints bonded with EA9321 epoxy adhesive
A mesh independent continuum damage model has been proposed to predict the residual strength of adhesively bonded joints by introducing a displacement-based damage parameter into the constitutive equation of damaged materials. Joints bonded with a ductile adhesive EA9321 were studied for a range of environmental degradation. The moisture dependent damage parameter for EA9321 was calibrated usin...
